Understanding how Barfines or E.W.R.s Work
So you have herd about all the full of gorgeous girls dancing in bikini that will come out with you for a small fee to the bar.
So how does it work?
The first thing to understand is that prostitution is illegal in the Philippines. The bars are not brothels and whilst you will find many girls more than willing to leave with you for a fee paid to the bar this officially only compensation to the bar for taking the girl out early.
For many years this fee was called a “Barfine” but in recent times the authorities have taken exception to this phrase considering it synonymous with prostitution. The new politically correct term is Early Work Release or E.W.R. They are the same thing and nothing has really changed. From this point on we will use the new term E.W.R.
The system of E.W.R. in Angeles is a little different from others places including Manila only a few hours away. For years the payment of the E.W.R. in Angeles has been considered inclusive of all services with any tip in the morning being optional.
In most Angeles bars the girls get approximately 50 percent of the E.W.R. while in Manila the girl is reliant on the generous tip that is usually negotiated prior to her leaving. So in Manila the tip is actually mandatory and in Angeles it is and extra that should only be given based on performance. If an Angeles bargirl wants to discuss a tip before leaving then move on.
Given that prostitution is illegal in the Philippines, what you are actually paying for when you hand over the E.W.R. fee is meant to be compensation for loss of income for both the girl and the bar so that you can take the girl on a “date”. Sex is technically not part of the agreement.
Lets just say that it is common practice for the girls that agree to leave with you to stay the night and have sex. Thus it is a reasonable expectation on both sides. Regardless it is still wise to confirm this prior to taking a girl out. She will often volunteer this information by way of explicit descriptions on some of the activities promised for the night ahead.
Not all so called “dates” meet expectations. Sometimes a girl just fails to perform as she has promised. There are even girls that experienced visitors have called “runners” that have a 100 excuses including “mens” (menstruation) and “cherry girl” (claiming to be a virgin). In another article we will explore the process of selecting a girl and how to avoid such problems. For now it is sufficient to say that seeking a refund from a bar should only be done in cases where a girl has blatantly broken a promise or mislead you.
The reality is that most visitors to the bars paying the E.W.R. do so to “date” girls that will have sex with them. When you do have sex after taking a girl out this is considered an event that has taken place between two consenting adults and is outside the realm of the bars control.
